*Living Spaces*
*The 3rd International festival for contemporary art - Damascus, Syria *
*Coming Up April 2011*
We would like to invite you to participate in our 3rd contemporary Art
festival for 2011.
*About the festival:
AllArtNow launched this festival with the desire to introduce contemporary art and its processes to our audiences, and to encourage the development of emerging artists in Syria and around the world.
In 2009 we introduced video art.
We have screened video art in different spaces (public, cultural and
artistic spaces) through partnerships established inside and outside of
Syria, in effort to reach diverse audiences.
In 2010 we presented many new forms of contemporary art, in our continued effort to create a platform for open discussion about new kinds of emerging contemporary art. We seek to nurture and help the cultural scene grow, one year after another, and to add to our already growing number of
partnerships.
This year the festival expands to cover more activities that we would like
to introduce to our Syrian audience, and to those artists that we have
collaborated with through exhibitions, video art festivals, and
workshops. In our 2011 program we will be showing a selection of artworks
including -video – multi-media installation – performance, street art, and
video art, working directly with and supporting the artists and our
audience.
*About AllArtNow:
AllArtNow was initiated in 2005 as a reaction to a series of different
limitations that exist for artists and other cultural producers working in
Syria. Project after project convinced us of the need and the benefits of
developing a platform for contemporary art, and providing opportunities for
artists to flourish. We have succeeded in encouraging artists to work using
contemporary practices, such as video, installation, and performance.
We aim to continue developing new collaborative approaches with
organizations in & out of Syria. Through our work as supporters and
facilitators of contemporary art practices we aspire to create opportunities
for artists, ranging from workshops to residencies and exhibitions; and for
our audiences, through participation and open dialogue.
AllArtNow is always open to artists from different regions of the world to
work and be in contact with local artists, because we believe that by
collaborating with others we can improve the current ecology of the arts in
Syria.
